Photography
On Friday I didn't get the chance to do a proper photoshoot with Amy's help (art assistant), so I had to improvise with my own practice shoot. In the end I had some really good photos of my model (Lucy).
The quality images for these aren't the best on Blogger but they are HQ on my phone and can be easily printed out for references. I started off with doing some pose shots in any area I could find around college. The window sill was a great area for clean shots and offered negative lighting which creates a gloomy yet emotional atmosphere. It highlighted my models body's contours and overall for my first body images I think it turned out nice. I wanted to focus on my model's feelings and hopefully translate that in my upcoming art work. This photoshoot was playful and nothing too serious.
I realised that there wasn't much light in college, so I went to the top floor where the it was bright enough for good shots. The 6th and 7th picture were my favourite as my model had her hand against the object creating a nice dynamic. Her body language is fierce and the angle of the shot extenuates the feeling of confidence and power in her facial expressions.
To get better pictures, we decided to go to Clifton Park and use the sun's natural rays to highlight my models face. I wanted to step away from the 'aesthetic' images and focus on my models natural facial expressions. These images are crucial to me as I often do portrait artworks and I wanted to capture her 'flaws' in a candid way, I did this by socialising with her during the shoot so that she could loosen up as we are both somewhat new to this.
As for these last images, I was going for a happy, peaceful energy and I wanted to focus on my model's beauty as she relaxed on the grass. These images turned out great as it was authentic in terms of her feelings right there and then. The contrast between her and nature seemed to highlight her appearance such as her striking blue eyes, and earth tone outfit. The images felt harmonious.
I have all these primary images... so what now?
The purpose of this practice was to get a feel for when I actually set up a room for a proper photoshoot. I know I'm not a professional, but trying is the key to succeed. I also wanted to gain some experience as the Fashion Marketing world includes photography and usual aesthetic images. For now, I am going to use those images as a reference for drawings since I struggled to gain the motivation. Overall, I am trying to get a grip of myself and really focus on this project.
